Abstract:
A new method was established in which the content of hydrogen sulfide in natural gas was determined by ion chromatography. In this method, hydrogen sulfide in natural gas was absorbed by alkali solution, hydrogen peroxide was oxidized to sulfuric acid ion which was determined by ion chromatography for calculating the content of hydrogen sulfide in natural gas. A good linear relationship was presented between the chromatographic peak area and concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the range of 0.60~30 mg/m
3, and the correlation coefficient is 0.999 8. The detection limit of the method was 0.11 mg/m
3. For the natural gas reference gas with concentration of 1.52 mg/m
3, the relative standard deviation of results in 10 times was 3.14%, for three kinds of natural gas reference gases with concentration of 1.52 mg/m
3, 3.04 mg/m
3 and 9.13 mg/m
3 respectively, their relative errors were less than 5%.
