Abstract:
Objective Solve the catalyst support issue of sulfur dioxide selective hydrogenation process for sulfur recovery unit, and low alumina content and high sodium content of traditional activated alumina carrier.
Methods Using aluminum isopropoxide as raw material, pseudo boehmite powder was prepared in the laboratory by alcohol aluminum method, activated alumina support was prepared by extrusion, and clover-type sulfur dioxide selective hydrogenation catalyst for preparation of sulfur was prepared by loading the active metal.
Results The bulk density of the catalyst was 0.55-0.65 g/mL, the specific surface area was greater than or equal to 250 m2/g, the pore volume was greater than or equal to 0.4 mL/g, the mass fraction of alumina was greater than or equal to 95%, and the content of sodium oxide was less than or equal to 100×10-6. When the volume ratio of H2S to SO2 was 20, H2 concentration was 2%, and temperature was 200 ℃, the hydrogenation conversion rate of sulfur dioxide was 95.13%, and the selectivity of sulfur dioxide to elemental sulfur was 91.22%.
Conclusions The catalyst has good activity and can be used in sulfur recovery unit of SO2 selective hydrogenation process instead of imported catalyst.
