Abstract:
Objective The corrosion problem of amine solution regeneration system is solved to ensure the safe, stable and long-term operation of the sulfur recovery unit.
Methods (1) Based on the operating conditions and material selection of amine solution regeneration system in a refinery, combined with the corrosion problems that have occurred, the main corrosion/damage types, corrosion sites and corresponding severity were determined.(2) Blocks were divided according to the medium type, and the threshold values of key parameters and the off-limits response strategies were proposed.(3) The corrosion control strategy was applied in the industrial field, and its effect on improving the corrosion problem was verified.
Results Under the condition of using the recommended materials, the overall corrosion rate of the amine solution regeneration system could be confined to less than 0.05 mm/a by setting the temperature and flow rate thresholds, controlling the specific indexes of amine, and adopting the corresponding response strategy when the parameters exceeded the standard.
Conclusions By implementing corrosion control strategy in the key corrosion regions, the corrosion degree of equipment and pipelines in the amine solution regeneration system has been significantly alleviated, which is helpful for prolonging single operation cycle and achieving cost reduction with efficiency increased.
