Abstract:
Objective The implementation of the EU CBAM policy and the large-scale production of green methanol fuel ships by international shipping companies will lead to a sharp increase in global demand for green methanol in the future. On this basis, it is necessary to research the feasibility of commercial operation for green methanol production.
Methods The technologies for producing green methanol from biomass gas are analyzed comparatively. A resource-recycling green methanol production model based on the combination of hydrogen producted by green electricity and anaerobic/gasification gas producted by biomass is created.
Results The model could output 100×103 tons of green methanol, 120×103 tons of bioorganic fertilizer and 7 000 tons of active carbon annually, and the total annual carbon dioxide emission reduction potential could reach 800×103 tons, and achieve an economically feasible for the post-tax internal rate of return exceeding 8% inclusion carbon reduction benefits.
Conclusion After theoretical parameter analysis, the technology route for producing green methanol based on green electricity from the wind and solar energy and biomass gas will provide certain guiding for the high-value utilization of biomass resources and the consumption of the green electricity from the wind and solar energy in China.
