Synthesis and Property of Novel Oligomeric Surfactant

  • A quaternary ammonium oligomeric surfactant with novel structure was synthesized by ethylenediamine, epichlorohydrin and dodecyl dimethyl amine.Surface activity of its aqueous solution and foam property were tested, and corrosion inhibition of the product on A3 steel in 10% (ω) HCl medium was investigated by weight loss method.The results showed that the quaternary ammonium oligomeric surfactants have much lower CMC, stronger surface activity and foam property comparing with DTAC.The product is a good corrosion inhibiter for carbon steel, and the inhibition efficiency is 97.03% at 80 mg/L.Its adsorption follows Langmuir' s adsorption isotherm and the mechanism is physical adsorption.
