Experimental Study on Formation and Decomposition of C2H2 Hydrate

  • Gas hydrates are crystalline, clathrate compounds, which have an extraordinary ability of gas storage. Hydrate formation, and its characteristics, properties, energy utilization, gas storage, model equipment and testing method have drawn much attention. At present, the most research focuses on the studies of methane hydrate, carbon dioxide hydrate and others, but a detailed research on C2H2 hydrate has not been reported yet. In the present work, behaviors of C2H2 hydrate formation and decomposition were investigated with a lab-designed high-pressure cell. C2H2 gas source was provided by a chemical reaction. Phase equilibrium of C2H2 hydrate is discussed in this paper. The initial data of C2H2 hydrate formation and decomposition were obtained. Our results may be helpful to a further study on the C2H2 hydrate and the C2H2 gas storage and transportation.
