Morphology Analysis of Resin and Asphaltene

The morphologies of resin and asphaltene was viewed by environmental scanning electron microscope (SEM).The results showed that the large particles can be formed owing to intermolecular interactions of resins, asphaltenes as well as between both.The connection between resin particles was tight, but it was loose between asphaltene particles. The factors that affect the heavy oil viscosity are resin and asphaltene content and the planar stacking structure.
