Failure analysis of sour natural gas gathering and transportation pipeline

Due to the high operation risk of natural gas gathering and transportation pipelines, failure mode analysis is very important to the integrity management of pipelines. This paper introduces general failure mode of gathering and transportation pipelines, analyzes failure characteristic of sour natural gas gathering and transportation pipelines, and discusses the corrosion and blockage failure mechanisms of sour natural gas. In order to reduce operation risk of gathering and transportation pipelines, it also proposes the analysis method of regarding the blockage as failure mode of gathering and transportation pipelines.
