Application of electrodialysis on removing heat stable salts in amine solution

  • During the long-term cycle use of amine solution, thermal degradation, chemical degradation and oxidative degradation will occur due to the influence of various factors, which will have adverse effects on the corrosion, foaming degree and desulfurization efficiency of the solvent.Among them, the thermal stable salts(HSS) produced by oxidative degradation has a great influence on the solvent, resulting in the aggravation of equipment corrosion, the increase of amine solution loss and the decrease of desulfurization efficiency. Therefore, in order to maintain the long-term stable and efficient operation of the device, it is necessary to remove the thermal stable salts in the desulfurizer. In this paper, the principles and characteristics of electrodialysis method to remove the heat stable salts were analyzed, and the heat stable salts removal facilities using electrodialysis method developed by Zhejiang Manatee Environmental Polytron Technologies Inc.was applied to CNOOC Zhoushan Petrochemical Co., Ltd, which was taken for example of removing heat stable salts from the system amine solution. The feasibility of the electrodialysis method to remove the heat stable salts in the industrial application was illustrated.Meanwhile, some questions and suggestions were put forward.
