Long period industrial application of CT6 series catalysts in sulfur recovery unit

  • This paper introduced the long period industrial application of CT6-4B anti-oxygen leakage protection catalyst, CT6-8 titanium base sulfur recovery catalyst, CT6-2B sulfur recovery catalyst and CT6-5B tail gas hydrogenation catalyst in the 2 sets of 50 000 ton per year sulfur recovery unit of China Petroleum Sichuan Petrochemical Company Limited. During the 6 years operation time since initial operation, under the abnormal conditions of single set of high load operation of sulfur, failures of high-temperature mixing valve, runaway of the reactor during start-up and shutdown, frequent failure of ratio analyzer, the catalysts met the requirements and all parameters of the device were normal. The sulfur recovery rate of Claus was above 96.5%, the organic sulfur hydrolysis rate was above 99%, and the total sulfur recovery rate was above 99.96%, which ensured that the tail gas emission value was far lower than the requirement of GB 31570-2015 Emission Standard of Pollutants for Petroleum Refining Industry. It can provide a reference for the catalysts selection and plant modification of similar devices.
