Status and trend of microbiologically influenced corrosion and control technologies of pipelines in oil and gas field exploitation

  • Corrosion is a key common science and technologies problem for oil and gas field pipelines. Microbiologically influenced corrosion(MIC) is one of the main types of corrosion in oil and gas fields, and how to control MIC is also a challenge in the oil and gas field exploitation. This paper reviews the research status, progress and the current main control methods and technologies of MIC in oil and gas fields. Corrosion microbial community, MIC mechanisms and corrosive microorganism detection and MIC control technologies are introduced, respectively. The future MIC research and corrosion control technologies are suggested as the conclusion.
