Objective Exploring the international standard formulation process for natural gas analysis methods, sharing the experience in formulating the international standard ISO 11626: 2024 Natural gas—Determination of sulfur compounds—Determination of hydrogen sulfide content by UV absorption method and regulating the application of this technology in the international field.
Method The experimental research was conducted on the detection limits, accuracy, and precision of the UV absorption method for two detection principles: one that employs chromatography column pre-separation and indirect detection technology, and another technology that allows direct detection without chromatography separation.
Result The paper verifies the ability of UV absorption method to accurately and rapidly detect hydrogen sulfide content in natural gas, and summarizes the experience of formulating international standards for the determination of hydrogen sulfide content in natural gas by UV absorption method.
Conclusion The proposed process of formulating international standards has reference significance for the international standardization of the analysis of sulfur-containing compounds in natural gas in the future.
